Focus areas

Rediscover Your Strength. Reclaim Your Life.

As a psychotherapist trained in Mindfulness-Based Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), my goal is to help you uncover your inner resilience and create a life that feels meaningful and worth celebrating. While we can’t change the past, we can work together to better understand your current challenges and explore new ways forward. Using a blend of proven therapeutic approaches, we’ll address patterns and beliefs that may be keeping you stuck and support you in moving toward a more fulfilling life.

When emotions become overwhelming, DBT offers practical tools to help regulate emotions, manage stress, and strengthen relationships. Mindfulness-based therapy increases awareness of the thoughts and behaviours that may be holding you back. EMDR helps reduce the emotional impact of trauma by allowing you to process painful memories in a safe, structured way. For clients seeking a more experiential approach, I also offer equine-assisted therapy—a powerful and grounding form of therapy that uses interactions with rescued horses to support emotional healing, self-awareness, and nervous system regulation.

I’m Jessica Cummings, a compassionate and experienced registered social worker and psychotherapist. I specialize in individual therapy for adolescents (ages 12–18) and adults, with a focus on trauma, eating disorders, personality disorders, mood disorders, and the emotional and psychological shifts that occur during perimenopause, menopause, and post-menopause. I work with clients both in person and virtually across Ontario, from my locations in Toronto and Stouffville.

With over 25 years of experience in both hospital and private practice settings, I offer therapy that is warm, collaborative, and grounded in evidence-based practices. I hold advanced degrees from top universities in Canada and the U.S., and am Board Certified in Eating Disorders. My clinical training includes EMDR, DBT, CBT, Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), Clinical Hypnotherapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, and trauma-informed equine-assisted approaches.

In addition to my clinical work, I have worked with Family Medicine Residents as a Lecturer at the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Medicine and worked with Practicum Placements as an Adjunct Professor at the Factor-Inwentash Faculty of Social Work. I’m also a frequent speaker at national and international conferences on topics such as childhood trauma, eating disorders, Borderline Personality Disorder, and the impact of menopause on mental health.

Whether you’re looking for traditional talk therapy, a more embodied experience through equine-assisted sessions, or the flexibility of virtual care, I offer a variety of approaches to meet you where you are. If you’re navigating a challenging time or simply ready to grow in a new direction, I would be honoured to support you.

Let’s take the first step together.
