Alyson Schafer, B.Sc., M.A. Counselling, OACCPP, NASAP
Alyson has been working with families for over 15 years, and is a mother of two young adults.
Alyson is the third generation in her family to bring Adlerian parenting to the community. Her father and grandmother are known for having founded several of the Adlerian institutions that remain active in Ontario today.
Adlerian family counselling has some unique qualities that clients may not find elsewhere. Expect to work, laugh, be assigned homework and suggested readings.
Alyson can address issues involving; different parenting styles, mother guilt or overwhelm, power struggles, defiance, oppositional behaviours, tantrums, aggression, sibling rivalry, conflict and competition, perfectionism, anxiety, pleasing behaviours, low self-esteem, schoolwork, bullying, eating, toileting, sleep, social media and gaming issues, etc.
Outside of client hours, Alyson works in media and public speaking. She is the resident parenting expert for HuffPost Canada, The Marilyn Denis Show and a regular contributor on CBC radio, CTV news and Global Morning.
She is an international speaker, including 2 TEDx talks, as well as having penned three bestselling parenting books with Harper Collins Canada. They have been translated into Bulgarian, Korean, Russian and Turkish.
